Trust & Provenance
BASE Station watermarks, scores, labels and registers every track the moment it is saved — automatically, with nothing to opt into. This is the single place to understand what each of those records shows, what it does not, and where to find it.

GenAI Label
Every sound recording is labeled AI-Generated, AI-Assisted or Human, in line with the music community's voluntary track-level labeling program (July 2026).
Transparency policyAttribution
Creative Ownership Score
A 0–100 measure of the human creative input behind a work, graded across five creative dimensions and exportable as a DDEX attribution profile.
How scoring worksForensics
BASE Mark
Two independent inaudible signatures woven into the waveform itself, applied automatically to every master on save. Measured to survive stripped metadata, re-encoding, compression, cutting and stem-splitting — and to trace any derivative back to its origin. Re-timed copies are handled by dedicated stages still in measurement; every limit we have measured is published in full.

On-Chain Registration
A content hash of the marked audio is written to a public registry with a timestamp nobody — including us — can quietly edit or backdate. It shows what was registered, by whom, and when. It is dated evidence, not copyright.
Your registry recordsProvenance is evidence. It is not ownership.
Every record BASE Station creates has a narrow, specific job. Together they build an evidence trail you can hand to a distributor, a platform or an attorney. None of them grants copyright, resolves competing claims, or replaces legal advice.
A mark identifies a recording
A BASE Mark identifies the audio it was embedded in, and survives re-encoding, compression and editing. It records which registered work a piece of audio came from. It does not, on its own, identify the human who wrote it.
A timestamp records a moment
An on-chain registration shows that a specific recording was registered at a specific time, by a specific account, and that the entry has not been edited since. It does not prove the work was first.
A score and a label are declarations
A Creative Ownership Score measures the creative input we observed in our own studios. A GenAI label on an upload is the artist’s own attestation. Both are disclosure — neither grants copyright nor settles a dispute.
Keep more than a record: hold on to your project files, drafts, session history, contributor agreements and dated correspondence. A provenance record is most useful as one strong part of that trail. For statutory protection in the US, register with the Copyright Office — that is something no platform can do for you.
A file hash proves the file. A BASE Mark proves the audio.
Most provenance registries record a cryptographic hash of your file. That is a real, useful record — but it is exact-file-only by design: change a single byte and the fingerprint no longer matches. Music never stays byte-identical, because delivery means transcoding. BASE Station registers the hash and embeds an inaudible signature in the waveform, so the record still resolves after the file has been through the mill.
| What happens to the track | File hash | BASE Mark |
|---|---|---|
| The original file, untouched | Survives | Survives |
| Re-encoded to MP3 or AAC for delivery | Breaks | Survives |
| Volume normalised, EQ’d or re-mastered | Breaks | Survives |
| Metadata and tags stripped | Breaks | Survives |
| Cut into a clip, or split into stems | Breaks | Survives |
| Pitch-shifted or re-timed | Breaks | Partial |
Every row above is a measured result, not a promise. Pitch-shifted and re-timed copies are handled by dedicated recovery stages that are still in measurement, and we report them as partial rather than solved. Recovering a mark identifies the recording it came from — the rest of the evidence trail is still yours to keep.
AI is the instrument. You are the artist.
We build some of the strongest AI music tools available, and left on autopilot they could run as a fully automated hit factory. That is not what this platform is for. Work that leans on the tools with little human direction is scored and labeled exactly as such; work shaped by your words, your references and your refinements earns the score and the label that reflect it. Human participation is not just encouraged here — it is measured, credited and rewarded.
